In 2017 Richard and Guy set out on a project to map the hard rock lithium resource potential of the UK. Securing a site and backing from the British and Scottish governments, they pulled in expertise from across the natural resources and refining world to create a formidable team to create the first centralised commercial lithium refinery outside of China, The Green Lithium Refinery.

RICHARD TAYLOR - Managing Director

Richard’s career started in oil and gas as a geologist working for Petrofac and Maersk Oil project managing the development of major oil and gas infrastructure, most notably his part in the field development plan for the Al Shaheen Oil Field in Qatar producing 300,000 barrels of oil a day. Richard then led the energy and natural resources advisory team for Deloitte.

Guy Hatcher

GUY HATCHER - Technical Director

Guy has 10 years’ experience as a mineral exploration and mine geologist working at a national level for Barrick Gold and Rio Tinto. With a focus in West and Southern Africa, Guy has worked on a number of international exploration and mining projects advising and implementing integrated strategic programs. Guy also has experience working on major UK infrastructure projects as a geotechnical engineering associate of Wood PLC. Guy has applied the knowledge gained through this experience to develop the Green Lithium technical strategy and has a strong understanding of the international lithium market from exploration through to mineral processing.

Jo Charles - Accounting & Finance

Jo is an investment banker at Rothschild & Co’s small-cap M&A division, Arrowpoint Advisory.

He qualified as a chartered accountant at KPMG in 2014 and since then has gained 6 years of transaction experience, across operational M&A advisory, corporate finance valuations, and most recently M&A lead advisory.

Jo has cross-sector experience, working with businesses across various stages of their journeys/lives and on a broad range of transaction types, from minority equity investments in private companies to public markets acquisitions.

MATTHEW MOORE - Investor Relations

Matthew advises Green Lithium on investor relations and works closely with the board. He previously led international investor relations predominantly in the US and UK for ADNOC Distribution, upon going public. He was also responsible for originating and integrating innovative technologies to streamline processes, and to decarbonise the company delivering solutions for the business that led to a significant improvement in carbon footprint.

He also works with a family and private office portfolio advisory business, with a focus on early-stage technology and/or products focused on green energy.

Additionally, Matthew is a Non-Executive Director of GripHero, a rapidly growing business dramatically reducing carbon footprint in the fuel forecourt sector globally.


JOHN CAREY - Non-Executive Director

John is a global business leader having most recently spearheaded the $8.5bn ADNOC Distribution IPO in the UAE as DCEO.

He previously headed up BP Products North America responsible for all marketing and refining activities with revenues of $40bn. Before this, he was the global CEO of Castrol Industrial, Marine, Aviation and Offshore, and CEO of BP’s global LPG business.

John is a chemical engineer and began his career with Anglo American South Africa.

In addition to Green Lithium, John is Chairman of GripHero, a company dramatically reducing the carbon footprint of fuel forecourts, and sits on the board of Autistica, an autism charity.
